Jeff Tweedy vs Black Eyed Peas
MEGA-CLASSIC - this is footage of Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) reading the poetry that is 'My Humps' by The Black Eyed Peas - in and of itself, the concept of someone reading lyrics does not sound all that interesting but this is FUNNY shizzle....

Video circa '84
Absolutely CLASSIC - wonder if they plan on bringing this back with the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado? It looks like it was part of the original Coors Classic back in the day....
Comment #1 - wonder how many times the dude racked himself while doing the trick riding??
Comment #2 - 80's and short shorts...glad to only see the ladies wearing short shorts these days....
Comment #3 - whoooodathunk there are so many obscure sports?
Comment #4 - wonder why these never took off - after all it has the 'speed of hockey, the contact of football' blah blah blah

Stuck on Repeat
Every once in a while a really annoying song will get stuck in my head....as everyone has more or less suffered through this at one point, it seems like the only way to get it out of your head is to replace with yet another annoying song....
today's flavor is the horribly annoying song from that horribly annoying show 'COPS'... "bad boys, bad boys, what you gonna do, when they come for you"
someone make it go away!!
One of my favorite shows is the spoof on that show - Reno 911. It is so un-PC and just cracks me up. As with most shows, the first couple seasons are the most rip-roaring

runbike?
Just in case you can't decide whether to bike or run, there is now an option for you so you don't have to decide...as Rush said 'If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice'.
do we call this new activity ruking? or bunning?
The only thing missing is training wheels...

Friday whacky linky
Last night was another night on the trainer as the weather is changing and trying to make up her mind. It started off in the 40's during the morning and then we watched the temps drop throughout the day and saw the storm rolling in.
It was a relatively light spin, keeping the heart rate at around 130 or below for most of the ride. Summary of the ride:
Since it is Friday and we are all looking for some comedy....here it be...I am not sure what makes me laugh harder...the performance, or the guy in the background cracking up!
and since we are on men impersonating women...and Beyonce....this is just classic:
Beyonce and Justin Timberlake - Single Ladies from Josh Wolrich on Vimeo.
Thanks JT, SNL and Beyonce...funny every time I watch it

Night Ride Bail & Tenacious D
It might have been the 23 degrees (and dropping) on the thermometer, it might have been the gin and juice, it might have been the lack of motivation...you get the picture...The net of it is I bailed on the night ride last night and I can't help but think it was a good idea considering the temps. Instead, I set up the Wii downstairs and watched a few episodes of The Office while I sucked down some gin/tonics. There were some good belly laughs had, although there was just a touch of guilt for sitting in a nice warm, comfy room as the other knuckleheads were out slip sliding around in the cold temps.
The weekend is quickly approaching and there is not current agenda for what is in store. Unfortunately, the options are somewhat limited this time of year so it might be a home-bound weekend.
Since it is Friday and since I don't have much to blab about...it is time for some funnies....if you are easily offended, then I urge you to click away from this blog entry!!

Halloween Night Ride & Country Hip Hop
We have a scheduled night ride this evening and each week we ride at night makes me wonder if this will be our last ride of the season on these trails before old man winter shuts us down....now to find an appropriate (or inappropriate) costume for the evening....We got some snow earlier this week and it feels like we are in extra time with being able to get out on these trails.
Another upside of this nocturnal riding action is the continued testing of the Magicshine light series. The little brother of the Magicshine 1400 came in and the Magicshine 900 will be the perfect compliment mounted on the helmet and for a backup. The last thing you want when riding at night is for your light system to go belly up and be stuck out in the dark. While doing the 24 hours of Steamboat 3 yrs ago, this happened to me and it was a very very rough descent back down. By the time I got back to the start/finish area, I was so motion sick that my day was o-v-e-r...It is a weird sensation to have your body moving one way while your mind sees something completely different.
speaking of weird sensations...this is just PRICELESS - wonder why it never caught on?

Friday Linkage
As per the weather forecasters, this weekend is shaping up to be a really nice one. The gears are still in motion in my head trying to figure out what to do...it will definitely involve riding...just a matter of where and how long....yabba dabba!
Here are some great links in case you have time to waste:.
There is a project (Northern Divide Bear Project) that is being run via the USGS. They set up cameras that are triggered to turn on by motion and have subsequently gotten some really great footage.
The one below is amazing - whuddathunk??

Here is a great link with more bear footage. There are several vids that show bears rubbing trees. It is really funny - sorta' reminds me of the Jungle Book:
and a little something that makes me laugh...:

Get Dirty, Campusing, & Humble Pie
MC Spandex is back at it, although this time around he gets rid of the spandex and dons some fat tire gear:
Gettin' Dirty
For some reason it reminds me of Bubba Sparxxxxx vid....definitely worth a play and a laugh.
I have not been on the bike much this week....managed to get out a couple times on Wednesday - one for a road ride up main street through Uptown Butte and then over to Beeftrail for a quickie climb - although it was not so quick. In comparing my data point with prior excursions up there, I noticed I was pushing lower wattage and getting my heart rate up higher than usual too....so working more but putting out less powa'. Perhaps it is time to hit the pedals again and regain some quickly lost fitness!
We also went out for a group ride on Wed night. We went up to the old railroad bed off Janney road and tickled the cranks up to Pipestone Pass....going through a couple of tunnels and the RR trestle. The temps were great and I noticed some of that their rock and stone that is just begging for some recon action. At first glance, it looks like there is some great potential for bouldering through the area. The best part is that the stone looks steep (my favorite style) in some places too! The ride itself was very pleasant, it was fun to be riding and enjoying the scenery without going out and hammering.
The single-speed wheel has been fixed thanks to Rick and the Outdoorsman for the kick butt service! I hope to get out on it this weekend or even today if mother nature plays nice.
As mentioned on a prior post, part of the reason for getting distracted from the bike as of late has been the urge to get back climbing. I have managed to get into the garage bouldering cave about 3 times this week and even managed to get a quick campus session in. When I started the session, I quickly realized that the angle that I had set it up on was too steep! So it was off to ACE to buy some 4 1/2 X 1/2 inch bolts so I could swivel the board from steep to easier and back hopefully back to steep in the future.
I was very very quickly humbled by how much climbing strength I have lost! My contact strength on the board was pretty pathetic...plenty of motivation to gain back some core strength as well as working the tendons for contact strength...all I can say is a big ole' slice of humble pie was served up COLD! If that does not serve as a kick in the groin to spark some training then nothing will...ohhhh the glory days...back in the day when I could actually campus - and the sad part is that I spent all my time yesterday on the big rungs...did not even contemplate trying to touch the middle or smallies...baby steps...especially with campusing as it is a fine recipe for pulling tendons if not careful!
We got a quote back from Mintage Airstream and we need to go through it to determine if we can shave any cost on the list of items we had wanted done...the reality is we want a pimped out Airstream done ala high class escort service and maybe all we can afford is a crack ho' (ok ok, maybe a suburban middle class crack ho'....)

Friday Linkage
We have found the sun here in MT...It is a chill day at work and so I find myself re-visiting some great links that are just amazing or make me laugh....
Tear it up Danny!
MC Spandex
All You Haters.....
as for training...time to get out & get some saddle time this weekend. The training is starting to wrap up though...2 more weeks of work then time to taper and ease into the race. The next two weeks will be rough though...it will probably involve some long hard intervals to prep for the long 10 mile climbs on the Puff. They still have not published the Cascade Cream Puff profile so it does not look like we will know exactly how much climbing is in store.
In the mean time...time to go out and enjoy the nice weather while it is good.
