Splittie - Tam Mac day trip

On Sunday, we rallied for a quick day trip up to TamMac for a day of backcountry fun.  We sledded in to the lake and then skinned up the Playground all the way up to Probiscus.  At the top of Probiscus, we decided to dig a snow pit to see what the snowpack was like.  As can be seen in the column below, the pack was solid and stable.  We also cut a couple of cornices which did not activate anything so we decided it was a go.

We each dropped in and then headed over to the bowl below the playground.  We got 3 laps in and ended up having a good day out.

It snowed throughout the day and it was the typical northwest heavy wet snow that had us all soaked to the core by the time we wrapped the day's events up.

We did see a slide in the middle area of the bowl where a couple of skiers had triggered and avie and it immediately started the wheels turning as to our pit the we dug higher (albeit on a different elevation and wind load).  It was a good day out and the slide we saw we definitely go into the database of information about the area for future reference…mental note….
